Making an aeroplane tearing the note book page or a paper boat on the rainy day are the most joyous moments of every one’s child hood . These objects were made of paper and the technique used was folding.

ORIGAMI- is the Japanese art of paper folding, the name derived from two Japanese words- “ORI” meaning ‘The fold” and “Kami” meaning “Paper”. Paper folding  probably originated  about 2000 years ago in china along with the  invention of paper. However it was Japan where it took roots and flourished.

Recently in our Country ‘ORIGAMI’ is slowly getting recognised and it is taken as children’s handicraft work for time pass during summer. There are many benefits of ‘ORIGAMI’ It knows no barrier of age, gender qualification, race, colour etc. It can be done by ANY ONE, ANY TIME, ANY WHERE, ANY PLACE.

ORIGAMI has found application in various fields of human endeavour like.

  1. Education  2. Health  3. Advertisement  4. Entertainment etc.

The Creative Child Centre has organised a two day works shop  on  2nd & 3rd May 2003.
