programmers on the first day included visualising the art besides speeches by eminent
persons of the city. In the later session, the children of the Creative Child
Centre have developed script on current issues like the "Gujarat
earthquake" and the "unseen creature of Delhi" -
the monkey man. These scripts were enacted by the puppeteers. On the second day, puppeteers enacted the Gujarat earthquake episode. Later the skilled artists performed an ancient mythological item Satyavati. Scholars from different fields of art and culture were invited on the second day. Dr. Aloka Parashar-Sen, Professor in History, Hyderabad Central University, emphasised the need to revive the precious art and not let it just be preserved as a subject for research. Later Andersri, a famous folk singer has expressed, the art of string puppetry must be handed over as a treasure to the young generation for preservation. The programme has concluded with a public performance by the puppeteers which has been appreciated by a large gathering. |
